The album cover features a picture of model/actress Lung Leg, a still taken from Submit to Me. Pitchfork said that EVOL ” was where the seeds of greatness were sown”, and placed the album 31st on their Top 100 Albums of the 1980s list, alongside Sonic Youth’s next two albums, Sister and Daydream Nation, which ranked 14th and first, respectively. It’s on point and this album doesn’t disappoint, if your in the mood to listen to some punk rock songs then give this a listen <3ĭespite not being successful at the time, the album has received retrospective praise. This is an incredible album in terms of the guitar playing. The album is notable for being the first with a new drummer, Steve Shelley, replacing Bob Bert. It was released in May 1986 by SST Records, the band’s first release on the label. EVOL is the third studio album by the American alternative rock band Sonic Youth. <3 This week on Magic Portals we listen to EVOL by Sonic Youth (it’s one of my favourite albums).
